States Mull ‘Med-Mal’ Courts; Special dockets said to produce efficiency, but critics knock absence of juries; Sympathetic Jurors

The article describes the growing trend of states turning toward health courts as an alternative to the current tort system for medical injury disputes.  In addition to the recent vote in Massachusetts to create a commission to study the feasibility of special health courts, other states including Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania are also exploring the health courts model.  Common Good Executive Director Franklin Stone reports that Common Good is discussing the idea with 10 states, including New York and Virginia.
